The American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois continues to be concerned about the expansion of sex offender registry laws here in Illinois and across the nation. We believe that such laws often substitute the stigmitization of groups of people -- because these laws govern a wide range of conduct -- for a carefully considered program that effectively protects children. Despite the ineffectiveness of this approach, the public is often given the impression that the only public policy choice we can make is to adopt harsher and more restrictive sex offender registry laws -- with regulations that do not allow a court to assess which offenders continue to pose a danger to society.
Unfortunately, courts -- including the Supreme Court of the United States -- has upheld many of these laws as constitutional. I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
