What city claims to be the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world?

Damascus, Syria is the oldest continuosly inhabited city in the world. Some artifacts found here date back to between 8,000 to 10,000 BC, which is roughly around the same time that the creation of cities began. However, this city has been an important city regarding trade since 1400 BC with the arrival of the Aramaeans.
