2 I've been all those places exept LA. I have to say San Diego is definitely better than Tempe/Phx. At least in San Diego it doesn't get so hot the Devil wants to go home.(There's a poem out there somewhere about how the devil created the southwest, but he made it so hot he had to leave.)There are a lot more things to do in San Diego, too.

A good part of them are graffiti-ridden, rundown semi-slums, and Tempe, Arizona and Phoenix, Arizona are too hot! I would think that the best city to live in in California at the moment would be Santa Rosa (only an hour from San Francisco), and the best in Arizona to be Flagstaff (gateway to the Grand Canyon).

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
