Most of their comics take place in the main universe (616), and they did a reboot for younger readers with the ultimate universe (1610) in the year 2000. But there are a lot of others, most of which don't usually pop up very often. Here's a list: http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Multiverse/... That website says Earth-1136 was created in 1936, although I don't know to what extent that was intended to be part of a multiverse.
They list 6 alternate universes in the 1960s, 7 in the 1970s, 71 in the 1980s, 196 in the 1990s, and 260 in the 2000s. Although I think Marvel is currently going through a big event (called Secret Wars) that is going to eliminate all the alternate universes, and end up with a single universe that is a combination of the main universe and the ultimate universe. The 2004 Punisher Movie was in Earth-58732.
The main Marvel Cinematic Universe (with the Avengers movies) is Earth-199999. I doubt that'll be destroyed in Secret Wars, but I'm not sure what they're going to do with it.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
