I am a realist. My father died at age 65, my brothers 60, and 70 years. My older sister, 45.
I am now 60. So, to me I see that I might disappear from the scene of the world within a decade. I do know that I have 2 areas damaged on my heart, and the 3 male members of my family died of the same issue.
Does that mean I fear death? No. While it is an enemy that has taken most of my family, I know that I have someone on my side that has been given authority over death.
(1 Corinthians 15:22-26) 22? For just as in Adam all are dying, so also in the Christ all will be made alive. 23?
But each one in his own rank: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who belong to the Christ during his presence. 24? Next, the end, when he hands over the kingdom to his God and Father, when he has brought to nothing all government and all authority and power.
25? For he must rule as king until God has put all enemies under his feet. 26?
As the last enemy, death is to be brought to nothing. Just as Jesus said to Martha when Lazarus died, he is the resurrection and the life. I know that IF my enemy death "captures" me, it will be a temporary situation and I will be back in the resurrection, just as Martha had confidence about her brother.
(John 11:24-27) 24? Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.” 25? Jesus said to her: “I am the resurrection and the life.
He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life; 26? And everyone that is living and exercises faith in me will never die at all. Do you believe this?” 27?
She said to him: “Yes, Lord; I have believed that you are the Christ the Son of God, the One coming into the world. I would really rather live forever and pass through the coming great tribulation, but sometimes things just don't work out the way that we like. I can deal with that, since it will be my King that will be taking care of me and the rest of my family.
I had a dear friend that passed away about a year ago. We spoke the evening before he died (~12 hrs later). He was tired from the battle and quite ready to go to the Lord.
Death is something we all must face (none of us "gets out of here alive"). The difference in attitude between those who know God and those who don't is striking.
This is a statement that God's words cannot be altered. If he prophesied something, it will happen no matter what or when. If he commands something, it stays in effect no matter what happens.
His word is eternal and no law of man or nature will alter it. You can depend upon it. This is important because it would not be possible to have faith (trust) in God's word if it was not a sure thing.
For example, if God tells us that he will answer our prayers but does not always do so, then there can be no faith in this environment.
Jesus' words in Mark 13:31 are cross-referenced to what Jesus said in Matthew 5:18-20 about the hypocrisy and legalism of the Pharisees. Jesus preaches a righteousness that comes only through faith in him and his work. Absolutely nothing can make null or void his utterances - the very Word of God.
Men may mock, scoff and ridicule Jesus and his words, but after the heaven and earth have passed away, to be replaced by a new heaven and a new earth, Jesus' words will still hold true. In Mark chapter 12, Jesus is warning us that when he returns with great power and glory, his angels will gather his elect. His elect are those who belong to him and who have embraced Jesus' words.
Those who have rejected Jesus' words will themselves be rejected.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
