Needs of the receiver However, having said that most of my gifts also had a theme to them (at least for those closest to me) For example my wife really wanted a flat iron but instead of just getting her a flat iron I got her a new blow dryer and some heat treament stuff and shampoo and conditioner and things like that. For my brother, he likes hiking, so I got him a water filter and some good socks and a hat. So basically their needs along with coordiation on my part dictated what I got people.
Sources: personal opinion .
Not just needs, but their own personal hobbies/preferences For the most part, I give gifts that I think the recipient will enjoy - things that they wouldn't (or couldn't) get for themselves. For example, two of my sister-in-laws became first-time grandmas this year. So, I bought them each a "Grandma's First Christmas" ornament that I saw at a little Christmas gift shop (one blue, one pink!).
At that same shop, I saw a Baby's First Christmas ornament that had Elmo on it. One of my nieces that just had a baby used to be a real Elmo freak when she was little...so I got that for her. All of these ornaments were well-received and I know will be cherished.
Another example was a gift I gave my sister in Texas. She is a very practical person - all she ever wants for Christmas is gift cards to restaurants. But, I get tired of giving her those, so this year I did something different.
She is a very big Packers fan, and about a year ago, she and her husband happened to visit the high school where Brett Favre played in his youth. She emailed me some of the pictures she took of the life-size statue of him on the football field. So, for Christmas this year, I took one of those pictures, submitted it to Shutterfly.com, and had a jigsaw puzzle made of it. She was so happy and surprised!
I heard about how much she liked it not only from her, but from both my mom and my dad when I talked to them. And, she even sent an email to me last week once again thanking me. This is not usual behavior for my sister!
Oh sure, there are a few utilitarian gifts that I needed to buy (shirts, socks, computer accessories, etc), but for the most part the gifts that I enjoy giving the most are the ones that I know will have special meaning to the recipient..
Mostly this Christmas we were concerned about our grandson, who is 7 s father hasn't paid child support since July and my daughter is struggling to pay rent, etc. , so we bought all his presents for him, so she wouldn't have to worry about it. We had been throwing our change in a bunch of jars for a few years and found that we had over $300.00 and it was great to give her the relief of not having to worry about where his gifts would be coming from. There were other family members that I know were annoyed, but screw them, their kids lacked nothing!
Now I have decided to throw in my change every day, and next year we will be set again! Bless you!.
Easy Their is just my wife and I and every year our gifts are based on the same things. 1. We always buy at least one gift that is something the other person needs.NO MININUM.
If you want to give more than one it is OK. Example she got me this year a new pair of gloves and a new wireless trackball. Both of which I needed.
2. We also buy at least one gift that is just something for fun. Something we think the other person would enjoy and simply like to have.
Somthing to brighten their day. NO MININUM. If you want to give more than one it is OK.
Example. I gave my wife among other things two necklaces for Christmas. How much we give, how many gifts we give, etc. Just depends on how much we have saved, etc. How much my Christmas bonus is.
A lot of things. That is just......us......
Golf My husband and I just had our basement finished this past summer and he wants to decorate it in a golf theme, I kept that in mind with a good part of the Christmas gifts I bought him. For the bathroom I bought him a tissue box cover with golf carts and golf clubs and balls, a soap dish that looks like a putting green and wastebasket with golf clubs on it. For the main room I got him a duplicate of the wastebasket in a larger size.
He was thrilled with everything.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
