I liked it. I think that the writers must have had a contingency plan for the possibility that the series would not continue beyond this year. So they planted several clues to a possible ending.
I can't say that it was that original. Dallas had a whole year explained as a dream. St.Elsewhere suggested that the entire series was simply in the mind of an autistic child.
The Bob Newhart Show used the dream concept to end that show. I wonder if they filmed that sequence at the beginning of the season?
It definitely tied up the loose ends, but was a bit cheesy, I thought. The dream concept has been overused, I think--and it diluted the impact of Sam reading to Annie in the nursing home.
I loved the ending! I have been betting my husband (just pennies, yes we are big spenders) that Sam was in a coma and this was all just a dream. The second to the last episode had me rethinking my thoughts and by the time the finale hit I was just totally dumb founded.
They took that somewhere I never ever expected them to go, for that I say "Great Job! " I did have a hard time figuring out some of the little tips that they gave us during the season, but between my hubby and myself we were able to get it. I am going to miss the show, it was fun while it lasted!
Was the BBC version different?
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
