What do you do with your Credit Card reward points?

I redeem them! I love them! I actually even changed from one bank to another because my new bank allows me to earn reward points for using my debit card while my old bank did not.

The way I look at the points, it's kind of like free money, as I would've spent that money anyway. So I might as well earn points for them. I've redeemed them in a lot of ways, but my favorite is to save the points up for something nice that I wouldn't have normally gotten for myself.My favorite reward was when I got a $50 gift certificate to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.

That was the most delicious debt I had ever incurred! I've also redeemed points for hotel stays and gift certificates to places I like to shop, such as Barnes and Noble, Best Buy, and the Gap. Heck, if you don't want your points, I'll sure take them!

Lobster cakes! Most recently, I redeemed my points for a gift card from Lobster Gram. I'm not crazy about the idea of preparing whole lobsters so I ordered their sample package of seafood cakes.

There were lobster, crab, salmon and a shrimp and crab combo. The salmon left a little to be desired but the rest were wonderful. I also got two chocolate desserts.

I ended up paying about $8.00 for the whole thing, shipping included. We had several meals and you can't beat the price! I've used rewards for other small items, too, like gift cards, magazine subscriptions and once a portable television set.

All in all, if it's money you're going to spend anyway and you're not going to carry a balance on the card, getting a benefit just makes sense. Sources: Personal experience and opinion .

We get gift cards or $$ off of mortgage. We have three cards which we get reward points. One of them after a certain number of purchase points you get $50 gift cards to certain stores, restaurants or gas stations.

We opt for the gas card, as prices are so high. So, we use the credit card to purchase gas, and then the points rack up quickly, and then we get the $50 gift card. One of our other cards gives 1% of purchases for a year and that amount is taken off of our mortgage.

The other one is much like the first, with gift cards and double bonus points to use at various stores, restaurants, etc. You have to take the initiative to get the rewards though. They won't just automatically send them to you. And, usually the details are in fine print on the statement.

It's worth the extra time to figure it all out though! .

I always make sure to use them! My husband and I have had American Express Blue cards for years and only recently redeemed the points. We got several Home Depot gift cards, which we knew we'd use eventually.

We also have LL Bean Visa cards (we shop there often) and the points we earn translate into $10 LL Bean coupons that we receive every couple months, we ALWAYS use those pretty soon after we receive them because we can always find something there that we want! We had another card (I don't even remember what it was) where the points we earned were ridiculously low and when we had enough to redeem, it seemed pretty worthless so we ditched the card. Now we use our American Express One cards for almost everything (pay off the balance each month) as they're connected to a high-yield savings account where a percentage of your spending is deposited.It's great because it's cash, we earn interest, and we know the cash will not expire!

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
