Looks about right to me. I have to watch my diet carefully, and though I eat in an Asian restaurant several times a week, I lean toward dishes like steamed vegetables and chicken, and ask for brown rice. I've also found that most restaurants don't mind little things like putting the hoisin sauce on the side (same thing I do with salad dressing).

Most restaurant made Chinese food is like most other restaurant foods -- cobbled together out of food-service ingredients and made as quickly and cheaply as possible. I don't think it should come as any great surprise that a lot of it's unhealthy. Fried chicken isn't good for you, no matter how it's fried or what it's served with, after all.

I think that in Chinese restaurants, as anywhere else, it's all a matter of choosing carefully from the menu. I read this yesterday I’ll start by saying that the Chinese do not prepare their food the way Chinese is served in the states. If you ever go there while the workers are eating it’s all steamed chicken or fish, steamed vegetables and plain white rice, rarely soy sauce. Soy sauce is extremely high in sodium.

I’ve eaten at many fine Chinese food establishments and used to go to Chinatown NY monthly. If you’ve ever been there or someplace similar, you know that what they serve is completely different and healthy. Try the House of Vegetarian in Chinatown, great place and I’m NOT a vegetarian.

I found during the many years that I studied martial arts that many so called Chinese things are less than authentic in the states. Sources: Experience and I read the article on my Yahoo! Home page.

Not surprising If you pay attention to what you eat, you can tell by looking at the stuff that darn little of it is going to be good for you. Interestingly, so 'real' Chinese food is great stuff - but it's not fried, and swimming in an oily salty sea of goop. This data has been out there for years, this report offers nothing new.

I very rarely eat Chinese food. I'm far more partial to Japanese - which is much healthier if you stay away from the tempura and the few traditional items in heavy sauces (actually, I'm not sure anything in a heavy sauce is 'traditional'). Still Chinese is no worse than a Big Mac and large Fries and Coke.

But I don't eat that either.

It's common sense... ...and what I had for dinner last night! I guess I’m not surprised at all, and wonder why it took so long to come up with this info. Although I don’t want to hear it as I love Chinese food!

LOL! I guess my feeling is that of course, just like any breaded and deep fried food, it’s not good for you to eat it in quantity. That’s common sense.

The salt/sodium count is more secretive, as you don’t realize how high it is, you just know it tastes good! I think most of us suspected that, however. I’m glad for more awareness, and I guess I will now limit myself more in how often we visit the local Chinese restaurant!

I heard about that I was watching the news and I got really grossed out, they said having their chicken with sauce is like eating 3 chicken sandwiches at mcdonalds, they also said some chinese food contains about 1500 calories..they also said it has massive amounts of sodium...and with the calorie intake if someone is watching calories then they can only have that one meal for the day and thats it. I knew that chinese food was bad but I didn't realize to what extent..i will defintely only eat vegetables and steamed food from them. All fast food is really bad I mean if you eat it once in a while its okay..but there are some people who eat that food everyday you know people who work in offices and order lunch..I don't blame chinese food for peoples weight gain or any other fast food place..people just have to watch what they eat and stay informed.

And I hope that chinese restaurants will cut back on grease and everything else that they use when they make food. Like I said I was really shocked and I will definetely cut back on chinese food...i don't want my arteries clogged by the age of 30.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
