There is no such thing as just using 10% percent of our brain. That was an old tale by.... The human race is able to use 100% of their brains. The myth that we only use 10% of our brains is an old tale started in the 1800's by old western doctors who wanted to sell their tonics.
This tale which originated during the wild west times was used by every tonic seller who believed they could sell their merchandise better by stating that humans only use 10% of their brain. The tonics they had supposedly could unlock full potential of our brain. Modern science has proven this theory of 10% to be false.
Daily actions that we don't think of are monitored by our brain such as breathing, heart beating, and our subconscious mind all are controled by our brain. If we used 10% of our brain then we would be as dumb as a mouse. According to this theory of using 10% of our brains then as we develop our brains would get smaller because as time has shown animals who decrease their use of body parts tend to reduce in size which eventually dissapear.
This process takes thousands of years but proof that our brains are getting bigger have been shown from the start of the homo erectus to the homo sapiens which is currently us. Unless people believe that we magically appeared on this earth 7,000 years ago and completely doubt the theory of evolution then they can still see that our brains are getting bigger and the only way is by using them more. Just like if we use our muscles more they get bigger so does our brain so don't believe that 10% theory people that do maybe actually only use 10% of their brain..
Well, not really... This is a very common misconception that arose from neurological research in the early 1900's that suggested we only used 10% of our brains' capacity or that only 10% of it was active. This has been proven wrong! -fMRI and PET scans show that in a very short time period, we use all of our brain's volume and neurons.
-On these scans, there are no black areas of inactivity. -Although the activity can be decreased in a certain area, we nevertheless use it all because specific areas of the brain are used for specific activities. If one were blind, one would use the part of the brain delegated to interpreting images less frequently but it would not cease to function.(In fact, there is evidence that people who go blind early in their life use neural plasticity to relegate some functions such as reading braille to this part of their brain.) -If you are implying that we could fire all of our neurons at once, that would also be a bad thing; you would induce a seizure.
-If our brains did not use all of their neurons, they would atrophy just like muscles. -The actual capacity of the brain for holding information cannot truly be measured and so this statistic is somewhat irrelevant. I hate to be a killjoy but this truly is one misconception that is damaging.
It depends on what you mean by use I think it's likely the other mass of our brain has a function that we are either unaware of or that we discount or that the underutilized resources actually perform some other function we are overlooking. Also, when people say we use 15% of our brains what does that mean really? Does that mean 15% of the volume of the total brain is used and 85% unused?
If that is the question, then the inert 85% could provide some structural or other biological function.
I don't think our brain could handle it with out overload. There needs to be some place for the wires (Axons).. to be which take up space. We a space for storage of memories.
I think we would could use more than 10%, but our brain can only think at a certain speed anyway. We would be smarter. People can live with half a brain and be ok..
Well, I am hoping that we'd put that processing to good use, and maybe get past this adolesent (sp) stage of our species growth where we believe in mythological fairy tales and have those fairy tales influence our behavior. I am hoping that we'd put that processing power to good use and bring our species together and hopefully keep it from killing itself off or ruining the only ecosystem available on this planet in the name of capitalism and growth.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
