It means the same in any kind of class. A certain percentage of people will receive As, Bs. Cs, Ds, and Fs.

Look up bell curve and I think you'll get a good explanation; better than I could try to muddle through here.

It depends on where the prof wants to put the peak.

I had a psychology professor who did that very strictly. You have to know something about statistics to understand it. Everyone within one "standard deviation" above and below the mean gets a C.

That includes a very high percentage of the class. The second and third standard deviations above the mean get B and A respectively. Below the mean it's D and F.

Almost nobody gets an A or an F. The same prof offered a pass or fail to anybody who would accept a C if that person passed. As far as I know nobody took him up on it, even though most of us got Cs anyway.

Grading on a curve is common, since most score near the average, with a small number greatly exceeding the average, and a small number scoring well below the average. It helps remove the instructor bias from grading. Some instructors give tougher tests/assignments, and some instructors are better at teaching than others.

The average of the student's scores establishes the B/C cutoff. People above the average get a B or better. People below the average get a C or worse.

The A/Bs and C/D/Fs are divided into standard deviations, depending on how many students there are, and how spread out the scores are. It helps make the grading more standardized and less arbitrary. But it also makes each student's grade dependent on every other students' grades.

I hope this helps.

Ghest grade is A and divide others in % from there maybe.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
