I had a psychology professor who did that very strictly. You have to know something about statistics to understand it. Everyone within one "standard deviation" above and below the mean gets a C.

That includes a very high percentage of the class. The second and third standard deviations above the mean get B and A respectively. Below the mean it's D and F.

Almost nobody gets an A or an F. The same prof offered a pass or fail to anybody who would accept a C if that person passed. As far as I know nobody took him up on it, even though most of us got Cs anyway.

Grading on a curve is common, since most score near the average, with a small number greatly exceeding the average, and a small number scoring well below the average. It helps remove the instructor bias from grading. Some instructors give tougher tests/assignments, and some instructors are better at teaching than others.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
