What does the presence of African retentions in Black american culture imply?

I was born and raised in richmond va. I now live in new york and recently did a dna test and found out that I am west african. So I can speak for both sides Because africans have more respect for themselves.

You don't see them naming thier child toniqua or jayquan. They give thier children proper african names.. Like tinashe or zendaya. Or drue.

They also don't put perm chemicals in thier hair and then complain that they have no edges.. They read and educate themselves and don't spend all day in front of the tv or outside running the streets.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
