What first got you interested in Fantasy and/or Science Fiction?

I liked Robert Heinlein, when I was a kid and of course watching Star Trek.

Reading C.S. Lewis and Tolkien as a child. And L'Engle. Haven't looked back since.

Watching tarzan movies as a kid. The action and adventure in a faraway land.

I agree with PhoenixV - Robert Heinlein. That was reinforced by Brave New World by Huxley. But what got me hooked as a kid was Robby the Robot on Lost in Space.

I'm a big sci-fi fan more so than fantasy and it's pretty much the only fiction I read recreationally. To be honest I can't ever remember not been interested in sci-fi and aliens etc. My Mother tells me I used to enjoy watching the original star trek series with Kirk and Spock with her on the couch when I was only 2 & 3 years of age so either it was this early exposure or i'm genetically predisposed for loving sci-fi lol. On further reflection I must have had a lot of exposure - always loved star trek, had all the star wars toys as a kid (my dad even has an audio recording of my siblings and I opening our santa claus presents and my 6 year old self sounded more than elated to be recieving star wars toys :) and I have loads of memories of watching different sci-fi series and lying in bed reading or thinking about the genre - I still can't get enough, watch most sci-fi and always have a book on the go - so it's certainly a lifelong affliction.

It was stumbling onto the fantasy section at the local library. I got intrigued by the cover art of C. J.

I read a children book about a guy who loved his friend, eventually married her and was always asking why she wore the ribbon around her neck. On her death bed she tells him to take it off and her head rolled into the floor. The art was very tim burton like.So it started with that, the creepy eerie kids books, eventually leading to a broader range.

I also fell in love with peter pan. Especially after I read the actual non-disney book.

Yes, Legend of Zelda started it for me. That game changed my life forever. Although after I played Final Fantasy 7 I got more into Modern Fantasy.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
