What happens during a school lockdown?

Well it depends how serious the lockdown is. In my area a few years ago, there was a bank robbery and a murder. Our school was on code blue.

Which means the class continues but no one leaves the room or school If there was a body found in the bathroom for example, the teacher would stop teaching, lights go off and, the students would hide under our desk.

I graduated from high school last year as well. There was a pot bust too a few days ago it was a teacher! Crazy huh?

When I was in school I never experienced a lockdown. But from what I've heard teachers will make you all get underneath desks and if you have to use the restroom you gotta go in a corner and pop a squat over a bucket! L.

A county schools have been put in lock down for hours!

It depends on the type. When had one lockdown because of the weather. The deans and crap thought that our big windows might blow in.

We all had to get away from the windows. Everybody was in the halls.

Teachers lock that classroom doors, then usually put something over the window and the kids stay really quiet. Sometimes under their desks. This is what our teacher told me when I was in high school 3 years ago!

Sounds fun lol all my school has are earthquake drills and they make us hide under the tables and then go out to the sports field and line up or sit ina circle with your class and its really boring and dumb.

At my school they canceled open campus so no one can come in or out of the school. The teachers lock all the doors and kids aren't allowed to leave the classroom, then they bring in dogs and walk through all of the locker hallways. They've never had a drug bust during school hours but they've brought in dogs after school before (when everyone is in sports).

If the dog sits by the locker they cut off the lock and confiscate everything inside the locker. We had one a few months ago and 14 people got suspended. I brought my drugs home with me so I didn't get caught haha ;).

They keep everyone in class, no one can leave class , and if you already left you have to return to class, No one goes on or off campus , they basically hold everyone in their assigned area and in that case, check certain people or everyone for drugs. I feel bad for anyone that mayve been skipping durng that..

They make you get down on the floor and you usually can't talk, or get up, they turn off the lights and lock all the doors and windows and pull down the blinds. It's pretty scary because they make such a big deal out of it. When I was in 2nd grade, someone's mom came to school drunk with a gun because her son got a bad grade on a test.

She threatened to shoot anyone who got close to her, finally she was arrested but it was freaking scary.

Yeah, I've had something like that happen at my school too I think. We just pretty much went off to the side so they can't look through the small windows we have in our doors and we sit all curled up. We also turn off the lights and we have to be silent.

The cops come out sometimes and they bring dogs and search all the lockers for drugs or anything else they might have in there. Yup, that's about it.

It depends on the policy of your school. If the school is in danger, at my school, the lights go off, the doors are locked and students remain completely silent until they're told everything is clear. I've never been in a lockdown, but I've been in lockdown drills where you practice the lockdown procedures.

At my school all the administrators lock the school doors leading to the entrance of the school. And the teachers in the classrooms lock their doors. And we sit there doing nothing.

But I think that's if there's a school threat or if there's something crazy going on outside. For drug busts I don't think they do anything at my school since they have drug dogs come and they just take the person to the officer to get arrested for a drug bust. So yeah every school is different.

At least for my school when we have practices.. they announce it over the speakers. The teacher locks the door and turns off the lights. The students all hide in a corner out of sight of the door in the classroom.

The drills only last a couple minutes but if something happened..they can go on for hours. The lady on the speakers will announce when its over and okay to go back to class.

Usually they come in with metal detectors and check your purses and check your body for any kind of drugs and they check everyones lockers. You'd be suprised at how many people they put in jail that day too. They students usually have to stay in whatever room they r in so they cant go anywhere and hide something if they have anything.

So first, 99% sure that you went to the same school I go to now. It was 1.75 (1h 45 min) not 1.5 hrs. We sat in the corner of the English department because of the lack of walls, played on our laptops.

You're supposed to sit with the lights off in a corner where no one can see you and shut up.

Im in high school and ast year we had a lock down cause some lady called a radio station and was like my husband is gonna blow up a school in broward county (Forida) and EVERY school in Browad county was locked down and I had P. E so we just stayed and the gym and talk to our friends we payed some games listing to our ipods but if you were in a academic class they would lock the doors and have everyone under desk and they would have to be quiet.

Where I lived in California basically the teachers would lock the door put the desk up against the windows and have all the kids sit on the floor (or lay depending on where the windows are) and we would sit by the phone the teacher would reach up and dial our home numbers and we would tell our family that we were okay and that we were in a lockdown. Then either the parents would come and get the children or let them stay until after the lockdown. I've only been in 3 lockdowns and one of them kept everyone after school hours... the other two were actually during school hours.

But that's pretty much it NO ONE can leave the classroom unless they have a parent RIGHT at the door of the classroom to pick them up.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
