My favorite things to make were dried flower arrangements or swags. They were made with flowers, spanish moss and ribbon and grapevine.
I also made curtains for my sunroom and needed material for them. We made several of these and sold them at craft shows. flickr.com/photos/runswithtrowels/134464... My Sunroom is done in American (Red, White and Blue), so I made my curtains in navey blue with the wood buttons.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/janebatemaninteriors/3231593499/ I made several of these when they first came out and we Love them still lol! http://www.flickr.com/photos/8562434@N07/4319245090.
My wife saw some mini moss covered Christmas trees(similar to these, but covered with moss instead of glitter: crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=4030&f=...) at either Potterybarn or Crate and Barrel (sorry, I can't remember which). She loved the idea as a table decoration. So, she went out to Jo-Ann fabric and bought the suppliers (foam cone, moss and glue) and made them herself.
They cost between $15 and $20 each at C&B, but she was able to make two for less than $10. The selection at Jo-Ann was good, but I would say the price was only okay. It seems like they had a 40% coupon every week in their circulars, which leads me to believe the pricing can't be great (without the coupon).
That said, since they have a coupon every week, it seems like it's factored into their pricing (like Bed, Bath & Beyond with their 20% off coupons). All in all, we were pleased.
Over the years, I have purchased a lot of fabric and fabric trim at Jo-Ann stores. I love their selection in types of fabric and designs. I used to own a store that manufactured and sold dog collars and pet items therefore I was constantly buying sewing products.
The Jo-Ann stores were one of my favorites for shopping in. The prices are reasonable and the selection is great.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
