Personal Opinion Guys like guy things. If he is a mechanic get him some kind of tool he doesn't have. If he loves video games and he has a Xbox, etc.Then get him a game he doesn't have.

Mens jewelry is always an option as well. There is nothing wrong with having the best of both worlds also. Get him the guy thing and you can also add something small and personal just from you if you want to.
