CF gives you a good answer on how to do this. Fundamentally, at low power you have a wider field of view and greater light gathering capability. So finding the rabbit with glass is easier at 3x than it is at 9x.
If you have a clear image of the rabbit, then changing power isn't worth it. Further, if the animal seems likely to move you want to keep the power low so you can keep it in the field of view. If you can't see the shot clearly, then you are going to want to increase power, however, as you do your field of view will get smaller and your light gathering will become less.
So, you need to make sure you have a good position to come back to to find the target and take the shot. Thinkingblade.

If they are so far away you need 9 power your light probably isn't going to pick them up anyways. 3 or 4 power should be all you need.

I had a good recommendation for a GREAT gun I've used for 20 years, for about 15 bucks more than your budget. But screw you. Go buy some Oriental piece of crap that won't hit a crow at 75 yards, and will fall apart before you get 300 shots thru it.

Air rifles are more correctly measured by Muzzle Energy, than by Muzzle Velocity.
Because if you don't know the weight of the pellet used then MV numbers are basically worthless. 1000fps with a 4.0gr pellet = 8.9ft-lbs 1000fps with a 16.1gr pellet = 35.8ft-lbs.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
