Aspca handbook is great --- ask your veterinarian --they see all breeds of dogs everyday and can tell you the plus and minus of each breed --- you not only want a dog that fits your lifestyle but one that will be healthy with little to no genetic health problems ---once you narrow the field to 2- 3 breeds ask your veterinarian if he has clients with that breed you can talk to or find a breeder with that breed so you can spend some time around them ---a good choice is a friend for life -- a bad choice can be a nightmare .

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
