First of all get your friend to set up a Coroflot account (coroflot.com/) and a blog (wordpress.com or blogger.com). Put some of his work on there and people will come to him. However, I would recommend strongly that he creates his own portfolio and a website.
Look here for how to create a good one: smashingmagazine.com/2008/03/04/creating... digital-web.com/articles/the_perfect_por... freelanceswitch.com/finding/build-a-kill... Some good examples: davidairey.com/ markwieman.com/ trevorsaint.com/ coroflot.com/)0 If he is good at designing phones and other technology - he should try entering the "Design the Future" LG competition (coroflot.com/)1. There are lots of awards (Award 1: $20,000, Award 2: $10,000, Award 3: $5,000 plus 40 awards of $1,000 and an LG phone). These would be things they would look for:
Your friend may also want to keep an eye out for the Peugeot Design Concept Car contest (http://www.peugeot.com/en/design/design-contest.aspx) for its 6th Contest.Usually I work with GAF, recently I start working with freelancetraffic.com and I am very satisfied.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
