What is a small act that impacted you in a big way?

Small acts like words of encouragement can go a long way. Even years later I can still remember the encouragement my mentors have given me, and it encourages me still.

My step died was in the hospital because of a heart attack. It was Christmas time and we had nothing. He couldn't work mom was always having to go to the hospital and we were in school.

One day we came home from the hospital and found our house was unlocked, and we expected the worst. When we went in the house was filled with food and a few gifts. We didn't have much that year but it is still the best Christmas I've ever had.

I guess the biggest act that impacted me when I was younger was when I was 14. I was a crazy kid, wild child if you will. Needless to say, I made myself believe that I was pregnant by a boyfriend I had.

Of course I had to tell my mother. She was furious, livid. I was so scared to tell her I got one of my friends to tell her.

After my mom cooled down she sat me down and said this "Okay, this is what we are going to do. You have options number one, have an abortion even though I don't support it. Number two, give the baby up for adoption, or three have the baby."

I was so scared and unsure of what to do, I told her "I will not have an abortion, I don't believe in killing a baby. It would be like killing a part of me. I can't give the baby up for adoption because that again is a piece of me walking around this world, thinking that I didn't care about it enough to keep it.

And I can't have the baby because I'm a baby myself, I don't know what to do. " So that's when my mom told me "Okay, here is your final option, have the baby, and I'll raise it as my own. It will still call you mom, and you will have a lot of responsibilities but I will raise it as my own."

My mom and I were having a lot of problems, and never believed she really loved me, but in that instant I knew that my mom loved me, and cared enough to help me through something this scary. So That is the small act, a sentence that changed my life forever. By the way, I ended up just being stressed out and miss a period.

Thank God for that. He works in mysterious ways.

Mine was in school...i was always following the rules and been a good person by putting aside fun and pleasure till I fell 1 day...that would have been no big deal if there was no snake underneath me....didn't get bitten but knew that if I did...i may have seen a doc or my maker....since then I do all I can do with my life...death can be anywhere...i hope when he finally comes I can brag to it that I didn't live a boring life....

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
