Free solutions First of all you may want to follow these tips: your drive is making strange noises or reports a CRC read IO error, DO NOT PROCEED. This indicates a hardware failure so your data is not going to be recoverable using "undelete" style data recovery software. As soon as you realize your data has been deleted, stop using the computer!
The less activity the better to avoid dangerous disk-swap activity. Find and download data recovery software on another computer. Save the recovery tool to a flash drive and run it directly from there.
Save the extracted data back onto the flash drive for added safety. Next you will need to know what type of file system you are using NTFS is the most common today but you could have FAT as well. I prefer these free software solutions ntfs.com/ pcinspector.de/file_recovery/welcome.htm majorgeeks.com/Restoration_d4474.html Sources: own .
EasyRecovery™ Professional I recommend EasyRecovery™ Professional. You can recover deleted files and formatted hard drive. Note: when recovering files, you need another hard drive with sufficient space to copy files from the one you are recovering. In addition, if the deleted file somehow got overwritten (for example, by creating new files on the partition), you can't recover it completely, so you should run the application before doing anything else on the partition.

GetDataBack - NTFS or FAT32 Version - Has always worked wonderful for me. Of the five or so more mainstream data recovery products out there, I've has the best success with GetDataBack from Runtime.org. The have an NTFS version and a FAT32 version. It's not a free product, but if you really want a good chance of recovering your files I think it's one of the better options out there.
Their website and product detail can be found at: runtime.org/products.htm They do have a demo version online for download as well. Good luck, and I hope that helps!.
One word: Ghost OK, actually it's two words... Norton's Ghost. It makes a perfect image of your hard drive. Even the MBR, so if it was your system drive, you could recover and not notice a thing!
ComPileDriver's Recommendations Norton Ghost 12.0 Computer Back-up and Recovery Amazon List Price: $69.99 Used from: $48.00 Average Customer Rating: 3.5 out of 5 (based on 2 reviews) Generally, I stay far far far away from Norton software (usually bloat), but this piece of software is not that and is well worth it! .
Spinrite Depending on how you format your harddrive, you might be able to get all the information back. IF you did a quick format, it only erased the header, the data is still there and can be retrieved by running spinrite. One thing to note is DO NOT use the harddrive for anything until you recover your data.
Any sort of write to the hard drive will overwrite erased data. Spin Right will search the harddrive for any data and recover it. It's a great software.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
