A few options... The option I know best is the Boston Acoustics Recepter Radio. It is a clock radio about 4 by 4 by 8. It sounds great, better than any other table radio I have tried (including the Tivoli Model 1).
It has a bass port and it can play moderately low, loud enough to fill a room. It is also really easy to use. And the radio reception is great, better than my home stereo's.
You can sometimes find them refurbished for less than $100. I have two of them. (I use them to listen to Internet audio streams, which I broadcast from my computer with an FM transmitter from C.
Crane, if you are interested. The setup works great, and is much cheaper than Bluetooth audio. ) Tivoli Audio does make something called the Songbook, which I haven't heard, but it is interesting because it can be wall mounted and it is especially designed for portability.
Both of those are mono. If you want a stereo radio, Cambridge Soundworks makes a very highly regarded model called the Soundworks 730. It supposedly sounds better than the first two, but it is bigger and slightly more expensive.
You probably can't find it anywhere other than Cambridge's website, but they have a good return policy. Bose makes a heavily marketed table radio, the Wave, but word is it doesn't sound as good as the cheaper Soundworks.
I use the FM Transmitter and plug my laptop and iPhone into it and then broadcast it to my radio. Com.

2 newbie732481, regarding your answer "SanDisk Audio Players offer a small radio/mp3/wma player with an audio input jack and computer compatible. ":I was thinking more along the lines of a tivoli-audo type device. A built in speaker is a must- an input jack for audio playback is what I desire .. .
This radio seems nice, but it is not exactly what I am looking for- thanks anyway .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
