What is the best time of year to visit Portland?

It is not an exaggeration when you hear tell that Portland, Oregon has nine months of rain per year. It really does rain from approximately mid-October until mid- June with some days when the sun breaks through during that time, but not many. The winter weather is not harsh per se, but it is chilly, wet and almost perpetually gray.

While visiting in the winter is great for avid snow sports fans, with skiing, sledding, and snowboarding on Mt. Hood being a great trip idea, the best time of year to really enjoy Portland is during the summer months. From July until the end of September Portland enjoys some of the most beautiful summer weather on the west coast. It gets warm enough to enjoy water sports and all of the many rivers and lakes that surround the city, as well as allows you to comfortably walk the pedestrian friendly downtown area and hike in the surrounding hills and mountains.

The summer months see little to no rain in Portland and the city is spectacularly green and alive during this time as well. Portlanders are particularly happy and it shows during the summer. We do not take the sun for granted here!

During the summer you'll see that practically every cafe and restaurant will set out tables on the sidewalk and people watching becomes an enjoyable event. Without a doubt, the best season to visit Portland is during the summer when you will be able to get outdoors and really enjoy all that this city has to offer.

It depends what you want to go there for. For the best experience and taking in atmosphere you want to go during one of the holidays - Christmas & Halloween especially. If you want to avoid crowds though, you want to avoid these peak times and general school holiday times.

From my experience, we've found a couple of weeks before Halloween to be very good - usually all the decorations are up and celebrations are happening, but you miss the crowds. Easter is another good time to go as it doesn't get too busy, if you pick the dates right. An extra tip - to avoid the crowds during the busy times, try going to the park early in the morning.

Christmas time (around then) because of all of the celebration (and special events) in the park.

Christmas is the best time because of all of the special decorations and parades.

The best time is the week before Thanksgiving. You will be able to see all of the Christmas decorations and it won't be a crowded. The parade starts November 21, 2008 through January 4, 2009

In the research I have done, I think the best times are the last two weeks of September are less crowed since most schools have just started and as stated before, the week before Thanksgiving week is uncrowded also. I use this book as my planning guide. passporter.com/ and the WDW Radio show podcast.

I would go like 2 weeks before christmas because the cold is keeping away the casual tourists and they will already have the christmas stuff going on.

I've never been but I hear that Halloween is a good time too.

Going the month before Halloween or Christmas is a special time to go to Disneyland because of the beautiful decorations they have up (and the Haunted Mansion ride is turned into The Nightmare Before Christmas), however, that is also a very crowded time to go. The best time to go for no crowds is a Tuesday or Wednesday in January or February, preferably not on a week with a holiday (such as President's Day) and also on a drizzly day. Then you'll be able to walk on to any ride, as well as enjoy the park as it is most year-round, which is great!

The short and cliche answer is that anytime of the year is a good time to visit San Diego. The main reason that people point to who live here is the temperate weather which is pleasant year round. Summers for the last few years have been cooler than normal, mostly due to coastal fog.

Average temperatures year round are ideal for all manner of outdoor activities. Depending on the purpose for your visit, you can take advantage of the seasonal turnover in the hospitality industry where rates drop to off-peak rates around November first. My main advice from living here is to try to pick your time to visit when there isn't something else big going on, or you will compete for hotel rooms and restaurant tables.

Definitely don't visit San Francisco in the summer! So many tourists flock to the city during June, July and August, wearing shorts, tees and cameras, when this can be the foggiest, dampest, most un-photogenic time of year. Fall is truly when San Francisco is at its best.

While the city always contends with its trademark fog, the summer months often see the city literally blanketed in fog all day. This means the places most tourists love to visit - the Wharf, Coit Tower, Alcatraz - are cold, damp, and grey. In September, the night-time fog usually recedes by early morning, and the weather is what the rest of the country experiences as summer.

Days are warm, the sky is sunny, and the city is usually free of tourists...

The best time of year to visit Thailand can vary. The December - January period is cooler and dryer here in Thailand. It is considered the high season so hotels and resorts in the many beach areas raise rates.

You see a lot of Northern Europeans coming to Thailand during this period. There is also the Thai New Year Period for those young at heart and like to party with the Thai people. This is during mid April called Songkran.

There are lots of party and events planned by the country during this period. The draw back is the weather is extremely hot with no rain. Another time many people come is June to October.
