What is the best way to access my computer remotely. PC anywhere? I'm In Touch?
ENKOO? Other options? Preferable FREE or low cost.
I do not want to have a monthly fee. I have a firewall, and a dynamic IP. Asked by drls 59 months ago Similar questions: access computer remotely Computers > Internet.
VNC I have had very good success with virtual network computer (VNC). It is a very mature software with numerous configuration options. Yet it is relatively simple to use and free.As for the dynamic IP address you simply sign up with one of the many free dynamic DNS (domain naming system) services.
This gives you a domain name that remains the same, while always pointing to your current IP address. You can usually setup your firewall/router to automatically notify the dynamic DNS service. Also, remember that if your actual computer address is one of the private IP spaces (e.g. , 10.
*. *. *, 192.168.
*. *, etc. ) then you will have to set up a port forwarding rule in the firewall that sends remote access traffic to your computer. This is necessary since your firewall has the IP address that the world sees but translates all traffic to your private IP address.

VNC + DynDNS.org I suggest VNC softwarewww.tightvnc.com or www.realvnc. Comit's a client/server software. You install the server on your PC and you use a client where you are to connect to your PCon your firewall you have to allow ports 5800,5801,5900 et 5901for the the dynamic IP concern.
You can set up a free domain name at dyndns.org" rel="nofollow">dyndns.org install a dynamic DNS updater on your PC (if your address changes, DNS will be updated with the new address). Then when connecting to your PC use the hostname (at dyndns.org) instead of the IP addresshope that can helpregards Sources: my opinion .
Researched answer: LogMeIn This is a matter I have researched continuously over the years as I provide remote desktop support for end users. Depending on your technical skill level, I would rate the following solutions in order from most easy to most difficult. #1 - LogMeIn - LogMeIn is a company similar to GoToMyPC, but their focus is placed on IT Service Providers such as myself.
A result of this is they have a wonderful free version of their product. This would be the easiest to setup amongst the options. #2 - Windows Remote Desktop - If you are using Windows XP Professional or Media Center Edition you can enable remote desktop by following the instructions at the linked site.
This requires some reconfiguration of your firewall, you will need to forward TCP 3389 into your computer. #3 - UltraVNC - UltraVNC is a free/open source remote desktop software solution built upon AT&T's VNC. You can install the UltraVNC server on your computer and use a client remotely provided you have your firewall forwarding in the necessary TCP ports.
I recommmend option #1 as it will get you up and going quickly and securely without any configuration of your firewall. If you have additional questions, please feel free to post them as a discussion, etc. Best of luck! Jeremy .
You already have something called "Remote Desktop". If you have it, it's easy to use. Just make sure the host computer (the one you want to control remotely) has it enabled (Start/Settings/Control Panel/System/Remote/Allow users to connect remotely...) and your firewall has it listed as an exclusion.
Another nice one is VNC, a free open-source program. A popular flavor of VNC (there is more than one) is RealVNC (http://realvnc.com). They have documentation on their site.
It's a really small download, too. Sources: http://realvnc.com .
