What is the best way to plan a trip to Hawaii using frequent flyer miles?

I have never been to Hawaii and would like to use my miles. I have enough for my husband and two sons (age 13 and 14) to go with me. Kauai is a must-see.

Frequent flier miles are difficult to redeem to key destination like Hawaii, so it takes some work... I'd start by calling your preferred airline to determine if seats are available to Hawaii. Be aware that airlines tightly control award seat inventory, so if you have a family of four, you may have to book tickets for two of you one flight and two of you on a different flight. It's can be tough to get seats to a popular destination, so flexibility is the key.

Also, check with your preferred airline to determine how many days in advance award seats are put into inventory. (On most airlines, it's about 330 days. ) Then, call at midnight exactly XXX days (330 days, if that's when they put them into inventory) before you'd like to travel to reserve seats.

(You'd be surprised at how many people do this. )Once you've found airline tickets, reserve them for 24 hours, but don't go ahead and "buy" them (with your FF miles) until you've found out whether you can get a hotel reservation for the same time period. Ideally, you'll have mapped out your ideal hotels and locations before you call to reserve your airline tickets.

So once you have the tickets booked, you can call one or several hotels and quickly find out whether they have availability. Depending on your frequent flyer/frequent hotel points, you may be able to get some or all of your hotel nights for free, too. (Wouldn't that be nice!

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
