What is the difference between a Gibson custom and a Gibson standard?

The Gibson Custom Les Paul guitar was introduced first in public in 1954. This is entirely black guitar and was also called the Black Beauty. This guitar is made of mahogany to differentiate it it from its maple top predecessor.It has the new Tune-o-Matic bridge design and an alnico-5 magnet in the neck area.

The Custom was also fitted with Gibson's new humbucker pickups which later on became three instead of the usual two. The Les Paul Custom single cutaway was discontinued in 1961 and was replaced with SG or solid guitar. This model has a thin 1-5/16" body and double cutaway.

On the other hand, the Gibson Standard has Sunburst finish, hollow electric guitars like the J-45 model. This was produced from 58 to 60 and in 61, it was modified and was known today as the Gibson SG. There were only 2,000 of these models that were made.

Currently, the Gibson Standard has BurstBucker pickups on the Vintage Original Spec models and Burstbucker Pro on the lower end models.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
