An ArcIMS Image Service is an image that ArcIMS creates each time you request new information (e.g. , zoom in). In ArcMap, you can turn on and off ArcIMS Image Service layers. An ArcIMS Feature Service is a bundle of features that ArcIMS streams to a client, for example ArcMap, and allows more client-side processing than with an Image Service.
