What is the difference between cheap two way radios and expensive ones?

Well, I think it's has to do more with Wal-Mart being able to sell thousands of those Walkie-Talkies versus some online site that may only sell 6 or 12 of those walkies. Distributors are going to give Wal-Mart a better price on those walkies than some guy online. And Wal-Mart might only mark them up 50% while some guy online has to mark them up 100% to keep the lights on and pay the rent and the Website bill.

Also, you really can't trust those X-miles range promises. You might be able to transmit that far from a mountain top, but when you're on the ground, your range is shortened by buildings, trees, hills, etc. I got some walkies promising a couple of miles range and I lost contact three blocks away. If it gives you a wattage rating, try to get the highest power possible.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
