I'm not too sure what you are really wanting to know, as a pot pie is solely defined by the type of container in which the pie is cooked and not by the ingredients. A pot pie is deep and it is baked in a suitable container so that it will hold its shape and not collapse into a splodgy mess in the oven. So, given that definition, a pot pie can contain almost any ingredients, usually savory ones, including kidney.So, there is in effect no difference between a pot pie and a kidney pie because you are trying to compare an ingredient with a container.
Also, a kidney pie does not contain only kidney, in fact I have never heard of a "kidney pie" as such, it is always called a steak and kidney pie, there is always less kidney in the filling than steak. There are other ingredients as well such as onion and sometimes bacon. I am also puzzled by, your other question, I was not aware that steak and kidney pie had changed, it has been around for a very long time and there is no reference on Google to it changing because of ethnic, or any other issues.
