What is the difference between Vedic Astrology and Western Astrology?

Vedic astrology focus on specific things like health, education, parents, profession and relationships seen in the context of planetary sub periods and current movement of planets (transit). Vedic astrology is more precise as it is read with reference to the ascending sign which changes in about every two hours. Even a degree of the ascending sign changes in about three to four minutes.

The planetary influences change with change in every degree of the ascendant. Vedic astrological calculations are different from the Western astrology. Vedic Astrology is sidereal or based in reference to the stars.

All its calculations are constantly adjusted for a back slipping motion of the earth called precession. The earth's axial spin retards or moves back about 56 seconds per year. The astronomy of the sky in modern times is nearly matched to the zodiac constellations used in Vedic Astrology calculations.

Use of fixed zodiac in Western astrology shows planets about 23 degrees forward to their actual position and this results in incorrect reading of impact of the planetary influences.
