According the the official site of the American Kennel Club (AKC), the Labrador Retriever has been the most popular dog in the U.S. For the past 10 years. Labs are popular dogs for a variety of reasons. One reason they are so popular with people, is their temperament and they generally are rated as one of the best dogs for children.
Other dogs making the list in order include: German Shepherds, Yorkshire Terriers, Beagles, Golden Retrievers and Bulldogs. You can see more at this link, which list the past 10 years for several breeds: http://www.akc.org/reg/dogreg_stats.cfm Another great online source that has click-able links to get more details about the breeds can be found here: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/top50.htm There are plenty of books to pick from about all dog breeds imaginable. I like to use Amazon.Com and see what reviews people have wrote about books before buying.
Some great ones about Labs include: Terra-Nova "The Labrador Retriever", which also includes a free training DVD. If you are more interested in the history of the breed, you can try "The story of Retrievers" by Charles Eley. This book tells not only about Labs, but Golden Retrievers as well.
For something more general, try: "Encyclopedia of Dog Breeds" http://www.amazon.com/Encyclopedia-Breeds-Caroline-Coile-Ph-D/dp/0764157000/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1298168915&sr=1-1.
The 2010 AKC number one most popular breed of dog in the United States is the Labrador Retriever. This has been the top dog for the past 20 years. The Lab was bred as workers and companions for Newfoundland fishermen and because of their extremely loveable nature, ease to train, and strong bond to humans, their popularity quickly grew and has yet to cease.
Number two is another very intelligent working bred, the German Shepherd. Many owners have this breed as guard dogs, police dogs, scent trackers, and even war dogs. This is a loyal breed and eager to perform its duties to please their humans.
Third place goes to Yorkshire Terrier. The Yorkie is a sweet and lovable breed and has no problem being a “lap dog†or running around the house at top speeds. They are an active breed and very protective of their owners.

For many years, the Labrador Retrievers have been recorded as the most popular breed because of its highest ranking in AKC registrations. akc.org/reg/dogreg_stats.cfm trainpetdog.com/Labrador-Retriever/about....
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
