I found a list on WebMD that was based on the book “The Intelligence of Dogs” which was written by Dr. Stanley Coren. This list is based on his observations while studying different breeds of dogs. Here is the list of what dogs were considered the most trainable and intelligent.1.

Border Collie 2. Poodle 3. German Shepherd 4.

Golden Retriever 5. Doberman Pinscher 6. Shetland Sheepdog 7.

Labrador Retriever 8. Papillon 9. Rottweiler: 10.

Australian Cattle Dog Apparently this is what Dr. Coren’s study told him. As for Pugs, I don’t know if they are easy to train. I do know from personal experience that the Golden Lab and the German Shepherd are indeed intelligent and loving animals, having had both dog breeds in the past.
