I was in Hong Kong eating dim sum with a bunch of Chinese people I was traveling with. They ordered all of the food. If you've never eaten dim sum with a group, this is what happens.
There is a huge lazy susan in the middle of the round table. The waiters bring out dishes and dishes of food and the lazy susan gets spun arounds for everyone to take what they want to try. There was a lot of fish (with the head and eyes firmly in place, plus I don't eat fish) and I I heard someone say it was chicken, so I snagged a piece and as soon as I picked it with my chopsticks I saw that it was a chicken FOOT.
I couldn't put it back (not polite), so I tasted it. Frankly, I can't even say that it tasted like chicken because there is hardly anything on there to eat. It looked just like a chicken's foot and was battered and deep fried.
I did not go back for seconds. That would have to be snail--twice. The first time, it tasted like the garlic and butter it was swimming in. The second time, it tasted like snail.
The "unusual" part is that, while I never thought much of frogs one way or the other, I grew up with snails as that-which-is-to-be-stepped-on.
