I received a pen from a guy who had just opened his own business plus $100 bill. The pen didn't work and the $100 was fake bill the guy gave out as a promotional item also.
I would have to say, not so much strange just nice, I was a cocktail waitress when I was going to college in Pasadena, one day I had these two guys come in & sit at my station, I served them their drinks & talked to them as I always did my customers, I found out their names & then when the time came, they left me a tip, paid their bill & left. The next day when I showed up to work, there were a dozen red roses waiting for me, the card read, You have a beautiful smile, don't ever loose it, Thank you for waiting on us, signed; Casey. I thought OMG, he's going to come back & try & ask me out, not he was unattractive, however I was dating someone at the time, so I was needless to say somewhat concerned.
Well apparently Casey, was just paying me a generous compliment & truly thought I was a good waitress. I know because he never returned & I never heard from him again. To this day, when I think of his sending me those roses, I still have a smile for Casey.... Thank you for asking this question, it has blessed me with the memory...
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
