What is the technology of the AcrySof ReSTOR Lens?

Intraocular lens implants (IOL) were introduced in England in 1949. They have been used routinely in cataract surgery since the mid 1970s to correct vision. The AcrySof ReSTOR Lens uses the same AcroSof hydrophobic acrylic lens material as the original AcrySof monofocal lens, which was developed and introduced by Alcon Laboratories, Inc.

And has been implanted in over 21 million eyes worldwide since 1991. Studies on the original AcrySof lenses have demonstrated a high level of material biocompatibility within the eye.
