Any intraocular lens implant whether it is monofocal or multifocal is very likely to remain intact for the duration of ones lifetime regardless of age. Replacement may be needed only very rarely in the case of damage or dislocation due to trauma. It is very rare to experience spontaneous dislocation, implant clouding, implant deterioration or large changes in vision all of which could result in the need for exchange or replacement.
