What is the true meaning of Boxing Day? Why is the day after Christmas Day called Boxing Day?

When I was a little kid, I thought Boxing Day had something to do with special prize-fights and wondered how that squared with the Christmas spirit. Boxing Day, celebrated on December 26 in the U.K. and some other countries, stems from the practice whereby the wealthy would give their servants boxes of goodies (perhaps leftovers or unwanted gifts ;)? ).

It developed into a public holiday. Like other dated holidays, it is adjusted if it falls on a Saturday or a Sunday. Boxing Day is usually celebrated by shopping and stores have Boxing Day sales and even Boxing Week sales, much like Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) in the U.S. Sports do play a part, with special football (soccer) and rugby matches sheduled for Boxing Day.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
