In the 2000 session, the Wyoming Legislature created opportunities, procedures, and standards for the voluntary remediation of contaminated sites, enacted as Articles 16, 17 and 18 of the Wyoming Environmental Quality Act. The VRP provides a process to streamline cleanups and to provide incentives to put contaminated, underutilized lands back into productive reuse and redevelopment. Incentives are available as liability assurances to give volunteers certainty about environmental liability.
In addition, subsequent to the passage of the VRP legislation, the Solid and Hazardous Waste Division developed a number of guidance documents, as fact sheets, to assist volunteers in managing their cleanup activities. More.
