What is ther reaction between disolving limestone chips in hydrochloric acid?

Limestone is a compound known chemically as calcium carbonate. It reacts with hydrochloric acid to form calcium chloride, carbon dioxide gas and water. The carbon dioxide is responsible for the fizzing you see in the reaction.

The reaction is as follows: CaCO 3 2HCl --> CaCl 2 CO 2 H 2 O.
