Well Empress--my favorite thing is that I can come and go when ever I want--so If I want to get a Haircut or go get lunch or even go see a movie I can. My Least Favorite thing is that I end up doing more work than I should and end up going back to the office to check up on things when I am on vacation or even when I am suppposed to have the day off from work. Thats it in a nutshell!

Correctional Officer aka CO, po-po, poh-leece, BOSS, screw. Favorite things- Armed transports. Love those firearms!
Doing a job very few can get hired for, and even fewer can stick with. Never getting another speeding ticket. Non-furry handcuffs.
What I say, goes. Or else. Actually getting through to an inmate, making a difference, and not seeing them return.
Least favorite things- Homemade weapons, shanks, zip guns. Strip/cavity searches. MRSA (Methicillan-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) HIV/AIDS Hepatitis Active Tuberculosis Spit/piss/feces being thrown at me.
Suicide attempts. Attacks on officers. Drunks Disorderlies that insist on fighting (and bleed when you restrain them).
Mentally ill inmates that we aren’t equipped to deal with. Being unarmed and locked away (just myself and 56 inmates roaming around). Mandatory overtime.
Incident reports. Cameras everywhere (sometimes you have to scratch! ) ACLU hug-a-thug for inmates.
Being hyper-vigilant on duty and off. Having my life threatened "out in the world". Seeing the same people come back repeatedly.

I actually really like my job overall. My favorite thing about my job, though: My coworkers. They're all smart and fun and we get along well.
We have a lot of fun. The dislike is sometimes I get bored with some of the more menial stuff. But during the busy times, I get a mini-me to help out and they do the stuff I get bored with.So it's not all bad.

This job is terrific, except for... Three guys in the office here (out of eight, plus me) have never outgrown flatulance humor. They fart in each other's area. That and it's a temp position that I've managed to extend for 5 months longer than I expected--but that is going to end in a couple of weeks, alas.
On the upside, I have a terrific boss, the guys are all professional, nice guys (even the ones who fart), and it's a very pleasant place to work--a stable staff, good company policies, and well managed. I've worked at places that you felt like everyone was scared, all the time, and for people you couldn't trust not to raid your desk for food--SERIOUSLY! These folks are trustworthy, welcoming, and from the beginning, made it possible for me to be part of the team.As I'm the only woman in the lab office, that was a little surprising to me.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
