My favorite is a beagle ... we have one and she is wonderful! I have had several dogs in my lifetime, a few different breeds, a few rescues, one "free to good home" which we have now and Isabella - our sweet beagle. She has the sweetest disposition of any dog I have owned.
We got her right after hurricane Charlie, our condo was destroyed and we moved into a house where we could have a dog! I had promised my daughter a dog when we got to such a house, and she held me to it. Isabella is obedient and loving..
I do love foxhounds, Walker foxhounds in particular (sometimes called "coonhounds," or "treeing" hounds). Walker foxhounds are not for people who want a dog that will... o take harsh treatment (they can become fearful of humans--but they're not afraid of bears, wild pigs, etc. ) o learn tricks o walk alongside quietly o reliably come when called (their "chase" instinct overrides every command) or be reliably obedient o live to "fetch" o be a watchdog o not shed They are for people who want a dog that... o is joyous and retains the best of puppy qualities throughout life (really!) o has strength, stamina, and energy o can run for hours, yet doesn't seem to suffer if not exercised o loves to tussle and pull o will not bite people o trains with positive reinforcement (reacts fearfully to shouting, mistreatment, or painful discipline, but is not afraid of even formidable animals, such as bears) o has an appealing bay (not a bark) that amused even my closest neighbors for 16 yrs (it is not frequent, but it is arrestingly loud) o tells good jokes and laughs at yours o is breathtakingly beautiful (see picture! ) o who always wants to go!

I have had this answer in progress for 3 days I can not pick one. I have a German Shephard and he is my 2nd one and I think they are Great but we also have King Cavaliars, they are great lap dogs. We also have a pair of Pugs and Bostons and I like differant things about all of them.So all this to say I do not have a favorite.
Canaans They aren’t a very well known breed, but we rescued one at the local shelter, and she is the best dog. They are actually native to the Middle East but are becoming more well known here. Canaans are very smart and are wonderful with kids.
She has lots of energy, but doesn’t destroy the house. She’s a great medium sized dog. She’s very protective of our kids, which we love, but she isn’t menacing.
She’s very alert and loves to play. She also thinks she’s 50 pound lap dog. I tried to load a picture of her into my answer, but it isn’t working.
She’s mostly black, but her belly and fore legs are white with black spots. She’s very cute and unusual. I’ll post a link instead to The Canaan Dog website gallery if anyone wants to see one.

All my dogs have been rescues in recent years, too, but I have favorites as well. My best dogs have been German shepherds or shepherd mixes, so I would list the German Shepherd dog as my favorite breed. They are very intelligent and they bond so completely with their owners that they truly become best friends. My second favorites are retrievers--labs first, and the other retrievers following quickly behind them.
I've had two labs and one lab mix, and they were all very good dogs, though the pure-breds had short lives, probably because of overbreeding. I've known some great Golden Retrievers and Chesapeake Bay retrievers that belonged to friends, so I have to give them honorable mention. In recent years, most of my dogs have found me. They've either been abandoned in my neighborhood, or have been given to me by friends who are actively involved in pet rescue projects.
With all the great dogs who need homes, I would never again pay for pure bred dog. A couple of my rescues have been pure breds, however. Sources: akc.org/breeds/german_shepherd_dog/index...; en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_Shepherd_Dog; en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labrador_Retriever .
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
