That is not a good idea...I am not sure about the NM law, though I went to college and lived there before I had any kids. As a parent, I would NEVER LEAVE MY 14-YEAR OLD CHILD ALONE FOR A WEEK, NO MATTER HOW MATURE. It's not YOU, Dear Child, I'd be worried about, so much as what else can happen.
How would you handle a burglar who wanted to break in, someone who might know you were home alone and decided you'd make a good rape victim, or a bad storm with no electricity for four days, etc. If anything, and I MEAN ANYTHING, happened to you, your Guardian would be charged with child neglect or worse. Don't you know ANYONE, a friend, a little old lady from church, etc., a college student friend, who could stay with you for that week? Please don't stay alone.
No matter how careful and mature YOU are, things could happen. I'm not trying to frighten you, but friends of mine left their 12-year-old daughter alone on a Sunday afternoon while they went grocery shopping, and someone broke into their rural home and raped her, tied her up and then burglarized the place. No one cared about the TV's & computers they took, but they essentially stole the soul of that little girl.
That was about 12 years ago, and it truly changed who she was. She went from being a sunny, happy child to being an inwardly-drawn teen who abused drugs and alcohol, and is now a troubled young woman.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
