Really you just need somebody who is willing to train you. Many companies prefer a college degree, but really, if you are sharp and have a good attention to detail you can get by without a degree. You need to be computer literate i.e.
Can find your way around Word, Excel, Access, Email systems, and the internet in general. Again, really the key is attention to detail. As a landman you will spend most of your day in a courthouse reading property title records and interpreting those documents.
Like all legal documents the wording of them is very important. Beyond that you will need to have good people skill and negotiating skill. All the time you do not spend in the courthouse will be spent negotiating with property owners, either to purchase an Oil and Gas Lease, right of way, or similar agreement.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
