What scanner makes the highest quality scan of a photo that was developed on 35 mm film? And what is the best printer?

I've been really pleased with the Lexmark X1185 scanner/printer/fax (all in one) I do a lot of photography work....often having to take pictures of original art and making 8x10 prints to frame. Using the HP Premium Photo glossy paper with the Lexmark produces excellent reproductions. Other times, I have to work from 4 x 6" photos, both 35mm and digital pics.

That are emailed to me and I can still get excellent quality. The only thing that I’ve found is, buying off brand replacement ink cartridges really reduces the quality. The Lexmark brand replacement cartridges (Black) 17/27 (Color) twin pack is the best bang for the buck.At least the colors all seem to run out at the same time.

They have another ’twin pack’ that’s more expensive, (? 19/29? ) but the red and blue seem to go well before the other colors. This Lexmark is an older model but they may still make new 1800 all in one models.

2 Drum scanners have been in the $30,000 range but service bureaus can do the work for you - from the film. Nikno makes a good film scanner that is probably the best. There are less expensive modeles, nuyt you lose quality and detail.

Flat bed would be my last choice and the quality will be fair at best. Try to clean the film first. That makes a difference.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
