Why does my AIO printer software "refuse" to scan? HP Photosmart C8180 All-in-One - scan function of the SOFTWARE?

HP Photosmart C8180 All-in-One - scan function of the SOFTWARE ... stops working all the time. I've been with tech support so many times I can't tell you. Once I was on with them for over 5 hours.

I even gave them remote control of my machine. I've downloaded "updated" software numerous times. This is not an old machine.

About a year I think - maybe less. It's not the printer - it's the software. All other options function properly.

Prints beautifully and when I can get it to scan it does a great job. BUT I usually have to uninstall and reinstall the software every time I want to scan. I've done that by turning off EVERY thing - firewall, anti-virus etc. I do mean EVERY thing.

I will be able to scan once and then maybe a second time, but eventually the software will not respond to the scan function and it freezes up completely so I have to re-boot the system and start all over again. I'm convinced there is something that is interfering but I have no idea WHAT to look for or HOW to look! And I'm completely fed up with tech support!

If you've done everything possible then I can't think of any way it can be resolved. If it's installed already in your PC then you should have used it well and smooth. Software that freezes everytime you use it?

Check your antivirus program if it's updated daily. Scan the software using your antivirus. I suggest you try another antivirus program.

Viruses can corrupt your programs and even your system. Just try it. If after doing it you still have a problem then you should bring your unit to the seller.

They should have technicians to do it for you. Best if you have the software in a CD or try another software which would work with your scanner. They might just be incompatible that's why.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
