This is really a simple answer, nothing. Now let me explain my answer. If you are an amateur photographer you should be happy to work an event to gain the experience.
You will make mistakes and people will be upset if they are paying you so you can learn at their expense. People think that because they have a camera they are a photographer, which is really insulting to the people who go to school, study, intern and practice. Photography is a combination of a science, an art and a craft.
A photographer has to have the abilities to be successful in these three areas. I have heard the conversation before, “ Oh, Bob just got a new camera and he can shoot your wedding. €™â€™ No he can’t.
Taking photographs at a wedding or another large event requires a lot of different talents. You need to have an assistant; you need to have controlled lighting, you need to know how to compose, you need to know how to work with people, etc. Etc. How much should an amateur charge to cover an event?
Zero until all these skills become reflexive but then you will no longer be an amateur.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
