What should be the first step to make after choosing a niche for your blog?

Installing wordpress is a very simple 5 steps process: codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress... Do not let yourself scared by page lenght, is extremly simple. I won't advice you to test it local except you install a php/mysql server on you PC with same versions with the one you have on hosting. Plugins: you need not to google it.

All latest WP versions allow you to browse all available pugins from inside wordpress admin area. With auto upload and install. Take your time, put some plugins, upload some test articles (posts) on different categories, then test several themes to allow you to decide which you'll preffer.

Take your time doing this - experimenting themes and plugins, even if will take 1 month, but do it online. Let your domain have about 1-3 month allready before you start advertising to call visitors - and of course, there should allready be equivalent of at least 10-20 posts per month. Mean time, look for similar niche blogs and start commenting intersting comments (not kinda "wow, very good post").

For the moment, until you still testing the look and facilities of your site (blog), do not post your link on other blogs, but use a name which you'll use all the time later. I honestly suggest to use a nickname with profesional resonance or your real first name. Or eventually your domain name, without dot com.(again, in firsts posts, for about 1-2 months and atleast until your blog have not 30-50 posts, do not add your link to other blogs's comment area.

Just do nice intersting attractive comments. Let'em be curios who you are ..) Also: register to facebook, digg, stumbleupon, twitter, tehnorati, linkedin, mybloglog and so on. Try also there to be active, to make yourself a bit known.

Again, before you start to give your site address, make yourself a small introductory in several places. After all this (1-3 months later, then), you will have to: - post daily; - comment to at least 5 other blogs daily; - visit at least 3-4 times a week your accounts to social media and bookmarking sites; - make a spalsh page and a banner and promote on traffic exchanges; - write 2-3 articles which to contain +20 chapters - chapters not longer than 4-600 words and in the style of a course. Register an account to autoresponder site (aweber or similar), grab the html subscriber form and put it on your blog somewhere very visible. Upload the course as 1 chapter = 1 email = 1-3 day distance. That is the first step in building a list which is the base of making money ... And so on .. enough info for now.

Make a list of atleast the top ten statements that you want to make in your blog. Flesh each out into a complete description of what you want to communicate on each subject. Now considering the interests of your protential readers, arrange these subjects from highest to lowest demand.

In other words if your ideas have demand ratings of 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 where 10 is best and 1 is still pretty good, arrange your ideas something like... 10, 5, 2, 9, 6, 3, 8, 4, 7, 1. Now write an blog entry on each using a local desktop word processor, checking your spelling and your facts.

Review, revise and rewrite until each of them is higher quality than you intend to use in your daily blogging. When they are ready, post each of them in the rearranged order, one or two per day. After this, your site is primed with quality content; you've demonstrated demand consistency to your early adobters; and you haven't made any blaring mistakes because you've researched all your facts before publishing.

Now you can start marketing your blog through the social networks, adsense, blog-related-blogs, recipricol links, etc. You are thoroughly ready for your audience. I think you are ready to start your blog now. I don't think you need to tighten your niche but you may want to have several categories on your blog for the different operating systems and stuff you will be talking about. Blogging is more personal than writing an article, IMO, so the blog posts will probably be shorter than article posts.

After you have chosen your blog niche I think you would first choose the best theme or template that would fit your niche the second is to get the content , I mean the best content you could get about your niche , what people concerning about your chosen niche need this is what you put in your blog after that publishing your content to the internet to drive visitors to your blog and do not forget to add some earning mechanisms , of course the best to do is Adsense from Google.

Your niche operating systems and freeware is perfect. I wouldn't tighten it any more It's okay to not be too focussed in selecting the general niche for your blog It means you have several subniches that you can use as categories on your blog The super focussed stuff comes in when you are writing posts for the blog. It is with these subniche keyword focussed posts that you can really get traction on targetted traffic.No one google's operating systems.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
