For me the song that had the biggest impact on the world is "We are the World" which was first sang in dedication to the victims of the "1985 devastating drought in Africa", which was later revived recently during the Haiti earthquake.
We are the world is a fantastic song and it has certainly had a large impact, but my pick for this question is Amazing Grace, because of its important role in the abolitionist movement, and in many social justice movements since. It is featured in a movie of the same name which tells the story of William Wilberforce, who was an abolitionist and English Member of Parliament. Youtube has over 80,000 recordings of this song.
I chose 3 of my favorites: youtube.com/watch?v=qrWF5FCI1jc youtube.com/watch?v=9OObiFNaZLg youtube.com/watch?v=ZJg5Op5W7yw.
I don't think any song has had an impact on the world. Not even "We Are the World. " They may have had an impact on individuals or the cultures of individual countries, and they may have raised money for good causes, but no single song can actually have any kind of lasting impact on the world.
There are several candidates that come to mind. One of the most often sung and recorded song of all time, in many different languages, is "Yesterday", by the Beatles, or perhaps more correctly by Paul McCartney. It is a hauntingly beautiful contemplation on a seemingly unforeseen reversal of fortune in a young man's love life.
While it offers no ultimate comfort, there seems to be solace in the refrain, we seem to feel better for having put it to words and music, for honestly, we've all felt that way and we've all sung along, haven't we? Secondly I think of labor songs, protest songs and civil rights songs. The champion here remains "We shall overcome", in my mind, but perhaps that is because of my age.
Finally, my choice. There is no other song that is sung every hour of every day all over the world that makes more people feel loved than Happy Birthday. To be together with friends and family that love us on the day we celebrate our birth is a tremendous blessing for which we should all be grateful.
If not, we should be ashamed. It can be sung many ways! youtube.com/watch?v=QhKQKLiHxAw.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
