Based on the choices you have given I think that the Computer has the biggest impact on mankind. Computers became a catalyst of lots of development from the internet, to social networking, business marketing, business process outsourcing, online media, online interaction. One of the biggest impact it has done worldwide is through globalization The world today is smaller compared before when computers and internet were not yet invented. It is easy now to communicate with other people around the world using chat, email and other social networking site.
We can now access other libraries in different countries with the use of computer. So I think Computer and all those that comes with it like the internet created a big impact in our world today.
From the list given the biggest impact on mankind ,I feel is the invention of telephone. Right from day one to this day it serves as the first communication media to maintain relationships over long distances. It is accesseble at any time by anybody (be it poor ,rich or middle class).
Helps share moments of joy ,sorrow or a call of emergency immediately to friends ,collegues and dearones. With all the technologies and other inventions around still telephone is the one that comes first in the minds of people first at a need of communication. To my knowledge I think that it was the first to develope a major economical impact by developing a new market for employing women as telephone operators.
The computer could be the best invention for this century. But I may add that the telephone is probably one of the best invention even before the inception of the computer. But today computers and telephones are being merged into what they called a unified communications.
Electricity has had the most profound impact on society without it there would be no lightbulbs , radio , automobiles, factories, computers, telephones, hottubs, skyscrapers etc.
The lightbulb. So we could see to make other types of inventions.
Based on your list I say the car. No other invention changed our landscape as much as the car - highways and roads taking up space, changing water runoff, creating industry based solely on roads. Signs are made for them, traffic lights and fines for speeding :) Cars made it possible for hotels and motels to spring up all over the country - where the new roads went, people migrated!
New towns, new holidays, new national parks for people to travel to. Road service industries were born, mechanics, race car drivers, petrol stations. The oil industry owes so much growth to cars.
Houses are designed with cars in mind, whole sections of the building are called 'garage' its created hobbies and home entrepreneurs, eBay sales and spare parts, scrap metal industries. Licenses to drive cars, motor registries, driving instructors, police to catch speeders, drug offenses and tests. Racing cars and fast cars and scientific development, tires and oil companies, carpet makers and interior designers.... Pollution and waste, chemicals in our air, no climate is the same since cars were invented. So I say the car ( just beats the computer ).
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
