What special traditions does your family have for Christmas?

We only started the Elf on the Shelf a couple of years ago but it is definitely become our favorite Christmas tradition. I love to watch our boys jump out of the bed every morning and run to see where our elf has hidden for that day. I have caught them on several occassions talking to the elf about what they want for Christmas or asking him if they are on the good list.

I love it and the best thing is all I have to say to them when they start acting up is be careful the elf is watching - you don't want a bad report sent back to Santa. I am seriously considering keeping the elf up all year long because it works like a charm! Happy Holidays everyone!

My parents always get a christmas cake. The day after thanksgiving, it's time to set up the decorations. I always hand make the cards because I am always happy to show off my calligraphy.

I let my partner have his present only on christmas day but he always cooks a wonderful christmas dinner for us to enjoy.

Love this question because I love Christmas so much :)- We hang Christmas star lanterns called parol. - We play Filipino Christmas songs every morning and night. - We attend nine-day Catholic dawn masses called Simbang Gabi from December 16 to 24.

- We eat special kinds of foods that are linked with Christmas after each dawn mass. - We go to Misa de Gallo or a midnight mass on Dec. 24. - We eat a special Christmas dinner called Noche Buena with family and friends.

- We exchange and give gifts on Dec. 25. - We watch Panuluyan, a re-enactment of Mary and Joseph's search for a room in an inn.

For us, we put up the tree before Thanksgiving arrives, about a few days before it actually. Also a lot of people celebrate and open gifts Christmas Eve but we wait until Christmas morning when we are all refreshed and eager to start the day. Also, while opening gifts we have Christmas classics playing in the background.

My parents (despite us all being over the age of 20) still put our stockings out in the middle of the night on Christmas Eve and then in the morning we all go into each others beds and open them etc. We then open family presents in the morning, from those of the family that are with us for Christmas day. After lunch we open the rest of the presents from other people and those are all situated under the Christmas tree. When my Grandmother was alive, she used to get given so many presents that the room would practically overflow!

Would make me excited when I was little because I always assumed that I would have my fair share of them but actually she had about ten times as many as anyone else!

We attend church mass before the Christmas Eve. Having a Christmas Wish for the family. Having a Noche Buena or dining in together during the Christmas Eve.

When I am with my family, we always make a homemade lasagne for Christmas. We aren't Italian, just tired of turkey after Thanksgiving! At my husband's family's house, we always have to wear red Santa hats and put out Jabba-Claus.It's this Santa Claus figurine that for some weird reason reminds us of Jabba the Hut from Star Wars haha.

No stockings, but the tree and gifts are abound ever since Thanksgiving. Very common and typical, yet sometimes insane when it comes to the decorations! (aka Giant Freaking Blow Up Santa In Front Yard).

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
